Over Protection Detection!!!!!

Let me know if I'm a nut here, but I don't want to let my midgies go on field trips with school. Jack has a trip to the wave pool coming up and I don't think I am going to send him. I wouldn't mind, except they are not allowing parents to come. Also Ri has a trip to the zoo coming up and they have mysteriously chosen parents to attend and I am not one of them. I am trying to make it seem like it is her decision not to go, but she is deciding under extreme duress. I am sure at some point in my life I will allow things such as this, but not while they are so little and vulnerable.

Hello Primary

Well my peeps, I spoke too soon.............. I am back in Primary. Dang I love that place. I went to regular classes Sunday and it just wasn't the same. I gave the right answer to a question in R.S. and low and behold, no one gave me any candy, not even a sticker. I don't know what kind of show they think they are running ;) but I need positive reenforcement.

The Steak Apple

Friday the midgies had no school and Jason took the day off, so we headed to the big city to spend some time. We decided to hit the Capitol and some Church sites. We told Mad where we were going and she said, "The Steak Apple, I love that place!!". Sadly, she learned quickly that it was the state capitol, but it was cute while it lasted.

Fools in the Rotunda.
Senator Marshall on the left, taking her job seriously. Senator Marshall in the middle, somewhat skeptical of proceedings. Senator Marshall on the right, bored with the fiat.

This is in the Church Museum. Elders and Sisters Marshall preach to the choir from the tabernacle podium.

Rarely seen photos of Mary, Jesus, Joseph, the angel and some sheep. The Church refuses comment on the little known photo.

The day was gorgeous and we played outside at Temple Square and the connecting gardens. This is a new camera and we took oodles of pics trying to figure it out.

Even the midgies took a turn trying the camera.

This was one of our last stops before heading over to the Conference Center. This was beautiful and peaceful even though we have been there so many times. The Conference Center had a ton of beautiful artwork. I suggest a tour. We didn't get a lot of pics from there because our tour guide was a bit of a Soup Nazi. She was all bussiness and didn't let us really take our time or wander from her sight. If you go, get the sweet, dorky, young fellow. He's a lot nicer!!!!

Return of Good Mom

Since being prego with Max, birthing Max and moving three times, I haven't been a barrel of fun. Agree silently......... So today Mad wanted to take a luxury bath. All of her bathing is luxury bathing, ie... it takes forever and consists of a lot of toys and scented soap. I whined like a three year old. I didn't want the hassle. But then I thought to myself, self you are a selfish, unfun mom. So I mixed up some bath paint, (shaving cream (foam) and food coloring) and we had a little bath party. It lasted from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. and the tub had to be rewarmed more than once. This is something I used to let Ri and Jack do back when I had more time and patience. So since I really do only have 2 kidlets at home, I figured I should revert to Good Mom and leave behind Barely Surviving Mom. If I can find the glue (we have pared down to only necessities at this house and Daddy didn't feel like crafting fit that catergory) I think we may collage with beans in the near future.

Girl Day!!!!

Every now and then the girls and I need a girl day. Last Saturday Jason went off to work and Jack went to a birthday party. So between Conference sessions we had manis, pedis, Sonic Slushes, makeup and hairstyling. Riley did my toes for me. I felt so pampered. I did not post the pics of the makeup. Mostly I look like a dead hooker. But it is so much fun.

It is all about Teal this year girls so run out, grab some and start painting! Aren't their toes adorable?
For those of you not accustomed to the back of my head, this is it after much labor and clippie rearranging. Madison does a precarious job at best, although it feels wonderful. I often beg one of them to comb my hair for me.

YAK

Since Easter one or more of us have been suffering with bouts of unmentionable and disgusting bodily functions. The latest to succumb, poor Jack. In the wee hours of morning he started his "I am not going to Yak", scream. Luckily our coaching and puke drills paid off and he was able to make it to the garbage can. A small feet from top bunk in the dark. Go Jack!!
Daddy had luck with him today and swiftly left the house for the excitement of a funeral. Oh to smell gun metal all day, not last night's dinner. How would it be.
Besides an adorable and sensitive spirit, Jack also has a sensitive nose. The fever and hurculean heaving set his blood a drippin'. By the time the shrieks reached me and I had dislodged my self from the suckling babe, the bedding that had escaped the yak, fell prey to the blood. It was everywhere!!! It looked like Jack had suffered a beating in the school yard. The red stuff gushed from his nose and mouth. Nothing a little ice water and spray n' wash can't fix. People, this is why I get paid the big bucks. When I answered the add in the paper: Ladies, Ladies, Ladies!!!! Do you enjoy being jolted from what little sleep you get? Is bio hazard your game? Does the stench of aged chicken and stomach acid get your blood pumping? Do you live for laundry? Then this is the job for you!!" This is exactly what I had in mind ;)

Shingles and Windows and Bears Oh My!

shin·gles

/ˈʃɪŋgəlz/
–noun
a disease caused by the varicella-zoster virus, esp. by reactivated virus in an older person, characterized by skin eruptions and pain along the course of involved sensory nerves.
WHAT??? I don't know what I have been dying to get shingles for. Never the less, here they are in all of their glory. There are also windows Yippee. Inside there is a heater and little blue electrical outlet boxes.
This pales in comparison to the fact that I am only 45 seconds away from Walmart. I am not sure which is the better option. Milk and diapers a dash away or a place to unpack 3,000 square feet of boxes now housed in 600 square feet. Yeah, your right............. Walmart is an amentiy that a young mother can't do without. I am glad to have that blessing.
